I must admit that while I have written about the importance of meditation in my own book, Addiction In the Family, Helping Families Navigate Challenges, Emotions and Recovery, I am often remiss in actually doing a daily practice. Abdullah refreshingly reminds us there are about nine different types of meditation: Mindfulness Meditation – This type of mediation is based on Buddhist teachings and is “the perfect tool” to watch your emotions and thoughts pass. “All you are asked to sit and observe.” In order to properly exercise this type of meditation you will have to focus on a specific object or your breathing; hence combining concentration and awareness.
